Recently, there was an article in Newsweek called “31 Ways to Get Smarter in 2012.”
Since I wrote this blog — and the next few — while I was on vacation, I thought it might be fun to comment on some of these ways.
#5 on the list was: “Toss your Smart Phone.” These cell phones are an addiction. Even at parties, people are checking their e-mails, playing Angry Birds, or sharing apps rather than talking to each other. A benefit, for me, of going out of the country while on vacation, is that I’m too cheap to keep data roaming, and where there is no WIFI, I actually can focus on the scenery, activities and people. Consider a short “toss” – and expect some withdrawal.
#11: Eat dark chocolate. It also said to pair this with red wine. Now that sounds like good advice. I’m in!
#24: Write by hand. I already do this, so call me “old school.” According to the Newsweek article, it’s easier to remember something once you’ve written it down.
During my vacation I decided that it was time to go play – and start by getting some chocolate and red wine.
